Can I use the Motorola i560 with Sprint PCS?
FxxyCream asked:
I already have Sprint PCS and am thinking about bidding on a Motorola i560 on Ebay, but wondering if the phone is compatible with my service.

No. The i560 is an iDEN phone and will only work with an iDEN provider. Even though Sprint and Nextel merged, they still use their own networks(Sprint = CDMA, Nextel = iDEN). Sprint’s phones and network do not use sim cards. Nextel’s phones and network require a sim card in order to work. You would have to switch to Nextel to use the i560.

Nope, it only works with Nextel…it is an iDEN (Nextel) phone not CDMA (Sprint)…sorry.

What the other guys have said is true… It will only work on an iDen network, which the only one is Nextel. BUT, the consolation prize is since Sprint and Nextel merged, you can call all Sprint and Nextel numbers alike under the unlimited in-network plan even though you would technically be on the Nextel network. Unfortunately if you are under contract you would have to pay an ETF to switch to Nextel even though they are the same company now. If you aren’t under contract, you could switch to Nextel and call all your friends on Sprint for free still as long as you have unlimited in-network calling on your acct (sprint to sprint).

you cant because it has nextel iden on that phone and sprint has CDMA. let me give you a link on an upcoming phone that uses sprint pcs for voice/ high speed internet/ mp3/ 2mp camera phone. and uses iden for PTT
that will be the coolest nextel phone out in a few months
